We had a wonderful time on Thanksgiving Day, and of course, the meal was delicious. We stuffed ourselves on everything from turkey to pear salad to slices of pumpkin roll. I spent two days cooking, and was so tired by the end of the day, but it was well worth it.
On Friday morning, Mom, Grandma, and I got up at 2:30 AM and braved the crowds to go Black Friday shopping. Actually, the crowds at Walmart weren't that bad since they started their sale the night before at 10 o'clock, but it worked out perfectly since we had my grandmother with us. Grandma had never gone with us before, and we were thrilled to have her along for something that we look forward to and save money for all year. My mom and I both love bargain shopping, so going shopping on Black Friday has become one of our favorite mother/daughter traditions. Our town is small, and we have to travel two towns away to find any stores that are open at that time of the morning even on the biggest shopping day of the year. We were able to go to almost all of the stores on our list, and make it back home a little after the sun rose. Mom and I together saved over $300 so our shopping excursion was a big success. Now, I just have to wrap the gifts we bought.
I think Grandma enjoyed the morning just as much as we did, and even though it took a lot of convincing to get her to get out of bed so early and go with us this time she said she'd love to go with us again.
I wish the Iron Bowl had gone just as well. Auburn lost to Alabama for only the third time in the past 10 years. I didn't get to watch the game, and now I'm so glad I didn't.
