I'm a Grandma!

That's right, not quite thirty year old me is a grandmother! Now, you might be wondering, how is that possible. . . she doesn't have any children and she's so young? And you're completely right, but I am the mama to the sweetest little kid ever.

Meet my little kid, Penelope:

Penelope at 6 months old.

A couple of years ago, I raised a bottle baby goat. It was so much fun mothering her and I was amazed at how quickly we bonded to each other. She wanted to be by my side at all times and would let out a loud "Bahhh" if I went out of her sight.

Penelope and Mose this past summer.

Well, now, my little bottle baby is all grown up, and just yesterday became a mother herself. I can't tell you how worried I've been about her approaching due date (this was her very first time kidding), but everything went smoothly. I'm now the proud grandmother of a bouncing baby buckling named Peter.

On another note, I finally set the peafowl eggs yesterday. For the first week they'll be underneath a broody, then after that moved into one of the incubators. I'm not exactly sure why, but placing them under a broody for the first week of development improves hatch rates. Peafowl are fairly difficult to hatch, so anything that improves the hatch rate I'm willing to try.
